One of the most crucial things to look for when buying gas masks is the rating. To provide manufacturing businesses with a standard for producing gas masks or other respirators, the government authorities established the gas mask rating system. NIOSH

The specifications for gas masks worn by American professionals are set by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). You are protected by the NIOSH recommendations from CBRN agents and other pollutants that you might encounter in the field. NIOSH has given the mask and filter set their clearance.

For a number of jobs, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requires NIOSH-approved equipment. Therefore, your insurance coverage may not cover any injuries or illnesses brought on by exposure if you don't utilize your NIOSH-approved PPE.

CE

All products sold within the European Economic Area (EEA), including personal protective equipment (PPE) and military gas masks, must bear the CE, which stands for Conformité Européenne or European Conformity logo. This mark is used by a manufacturer to show that their product complies with all EEA Council requirements for environmental, health, and safety protection.

GOST

GOST 8762-75, a 40mm threading with a 4mm pitch, is one of the GOST standards produced by the Soviet Union. The Warsaw Pact countries and the Russian Federation both upheld this standard for a long time.

EN 136

For full-face gas masks in PPE, the European Standard (EN) 136:1998 is applicable. Therefore, if a mask has this mark, using it as respiratory protection equipment in negative pressure systems is allowed.

Keep in mind that full-face respirators must also adhere to additional standards set forth by international governments. Whether a military gas mask has a specific certification has no bearing on its quality or utility; it just serves as proof that it has undergone independent testing and been deemed to meet the necessary standards.
